HEALING WITH NATURE

ABOUT KAMBÔ

WHAT IS KAMBÔ?

Kambô’s unique peptides work in synergy with the human body

Found high in the canopy of the rainforest Kambô otherwise known as the phyllomedusa bicolour or giant monkey tree frog, carries a powerful natural medicine that has been used traditionally for thousands of years by the indigenous peoples of the Amazon. Kambô’s secretion has the ability to remove pathogens and environmental toxins from the body that are behind many human health problems.

Kambô’s secretion is not poison or toxin as some claim, science showing it contains a unique and highly complex blend of what are known as bioactive peptides. With many of the peptides containing potent antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal properties that strengthen the immune system. In the Amazon it is known as the ‘vacina da floresta’ or vaccine of the forest.

Kambô’s unique peptides work in synergy with the human body acting as a catalyst for releasing deep rooted toxins, stagnant energy and trapped emotions. A potent cleansing medicine that assists the healing of the body, mind and spirit. A powerful detoxification of the physical body can occur alongside the energy body, clearing heavy energy known as 'panema' or 'bad luck'.

When the body is cleansed we can experience an improved sense of well-being, clarity of mind and increased energy, resulting in a greater capacity to navigate the challenges that are part of this human experience supporting us in restoring or cultivating greater joy and well-being into our life.

During a Kambo ceremony, small superficial burns, known as gates, are made on the skin to apply the Kambo secretion. This allows the Kambo to be absorbed into the body quickly. Within seconds of application, many people experience a warm, tingling sensation spreading throughout their body. It's common for the heart to beat more strongly and a sense of heightened energy may be felt.

As the Kambo works through the body, it initiates a deep cleansing and healing process. This often includes a period of intense physical purging, which can involve nausea, vomiting and sometimes diarrhoea. These reactions are part of the body's detoxification process, driven by the powerful bioactive peptides in Kambo’s secretion. The purging helps to release physical and energetic toxins, paving the way for a sense of clarity and rejuvenation after the ceremony.

The ceremony concludes with a period of rest and recovery, allowing the body to recalibrate and integrate the healing effects of Kambo.

1. WHAT HAPPENS DURING A KAMBO CEREMONY?

The Kambo Ceremony

Our Kambo ceremonies usually last around 4 hours including introductions, opening the space, a discussion about the intention setting and expectations and closing of the ceremony. The Kambo treatment itself lasts between 20-40 minutes. After the treatment, we provide ample time for rest and recovery and we finish the ceremony with nourishing snacks and refreshments to support your body in recalibration. You will be fully grounded and able to drive afterwards.

After the ceremony, some people may feel a surge of energy, while others might feel tired or achy. It's important to listen to the needs of your body and giving yourself time to reflect on the experience. Prioritising adequate sleep to support the integration of the Kambo medicine, we recommend a couple of days of rest and integration. Various ways to integrate your experience include booking an integration session with us, journalling, meditating, exercising or engaging in other supportive activities like yoga or nature walks. Eating nourishing, whole foods and avoiding heavy, processed foods will help your body to continue to detoxify and heal alongside staying hydrated.

2. HOW LONG DOES THE KAMBO CEREMONY LAST?

The Kambo Ceremony

Kambo contains a complex mix of bioactive peptides that interact with the body’s receptors. These peptides can have various effects, such as dilating blood vessels, stimulating the immune system and promoting detoxification. The exact mechanisms are still being scientifically studied.

After a Kambo ceremony, many people report feeling a profound sense of clarity, rejuvenation, and emotional release. You may experience heightened mental clarity, a sense of well-being, and a deeper connection to your body and emotions. However, it’s also normal to feel tired or achy as your body continues to detoxify and integrate the experience. This detoxification process can sometimes leave you feeling drained or fatigued, especially if your body has expelled a significant amount of toxins. These sensations are a natural part of the healing process.

Everyone’s reaction to Kambo is unique, so be gentle with yourself and allow your body the time it needs to integrate the healing effects.

3. HOW DOES KAMBO WORK IN THE BODY?

The Kambo Ceremony

Kambo originates from the Amazon rainforest, used for centuries by indigenous tribes such as the Katukina, Yawanawá and Matsés. Traditionally, the Matsés used Kambo to prepare for hunting, as a medicine for physical illness and for clearing negative energy.

Considered a sacred medicine that connects people to nature and their inner selves. Those who feel called to sit with this medicine come with many different intentions, ranging from getting out of a rut, to seeking mental, physical and spiritual support.

We source our Kambo from the Matsés, who hold great reverence towards the frog and its habitat. By supporting the Matsés, we indirectly support the preservation of the Amazon rainforest.
