The Magic of Sauna and Nature Combined
Our outdoor sauna sessions, at the foot of the Scottish Highlands, invite you to experience the healing warmth of a traditional wood-fired sauna where nature provides the perfect backdrop for relaxation. Blending ancient heat traditions with the raw beauty of nature, it’s an opportunity to immerse yourself in a sauna experience set in breathtaking natural surroundings.
The CAIM Outdoor Sauna Experience
Tucked into our private forest retreat, our bespoke wood-fired sauna handmade in Scotland offers gentle heat and rich, aromatic steam. Each session welcomes an intimate group - no more than ten people - creating a calm space for reflection, connection and renewal.
Sauna culture originated in Finland, where it has been a deeply rooted part of life for over 2,000 years. The word sauna itself is Finnis and in Finland, saunas are more than just a wellness trend - they are a way of life.
In recent years, the use of outdoor saunas has grown steadily across Scotland. Taking root in the Highlands and beyond, as more people seek natural, elemental ways to support their wellbeing. From wild dips in lochs followed by wood-fired heat, to mobile sauna pop-ups along rugged coastlines, there’s a quiet revival of sauna culture happening - one that reconnects us to the rhythms of nature, the power of heat and cold, and the healing capacity of intentional rest.
At CAIM, the magic of sauna sessions, is rooted in these same principles. Set against the raw beauty of our private woodland, they offer a space to slow down, ‘sweat out stress’ and return to yourself. Whether you’re new to sauna or deepening an existing practice, this guide will walk you through what to expect, how to prepare and how to make the most of the experience.

Enhance Your Wellness Journey
Before or after your session, take a quiet walk through CAIM’s woodland paths. Breathe deeply, listen to the wind in the trees and let the forest recalibrate your system. This gentle reconnection with the Earth deepens the benefits of a nature sauna experience - a practice that honours the relationship between body, breath and land.
Echoing the traditional Finnish way - where saunas were (and still are) built close to nature, often deep in the forest or beside water - our outdoor sauna invites you into a ritual rooted in the wild. In Finland, this connection isn’t just cultural, it’s medicinal. It’s not only about heat - it’s about rhythm, rest and reconnection.
When you step into our wellness-focused sauna experience here in Scotland, surrounded by trees, birdsong and the changing Highland skies, your nervous system begins to settle. The heat invites your body to soften. The cool air between rounds reawakens your senses.
Who It’s For: Sauna for Body, Mind and Soul
Sauna is a time-honoured practice that has been shown time and time again to support the body in releasing tension, easing the muscles, boosting circulation, aiding gentle detoxification and calming the mind. Whether you’re an athlete, a busy parent or someone simply seeking rest, CAIM sauna sessions offer a doorway into deeper ease - held in nature and surrounded by stillness.
That said, sauna isn’t the right medicine for everyone, all the time. For those with certain health conditions - such as immune compromise, cardiovascular challenges or during pregnancy - the intensity of heat may not be suitable. At CAIM, we trust in the body’s wisdom and encourage each guest to take full ownership of their wellbeing. We invite you to do your own research, seek medical advice where needed, reach out to us directly and tune into what feels right for your system at this stage in your journey.
For many, this nature sauna experience offers not just physical relief but emotional reset, a way to soften the noise, connect inward and emerge more grounded. The medicine lies not only in the heat but in the rhythm of the elements, the silence of the woods and the space to just be.
