What is Kambo and Why Prepare?

Kambo, often referred to as the “vaccine of the forest,” is a potent Amazonian frog medicine known for its deep detoxifying and cleansing properties. This sacred secretion is gaining recognition globally for its powerful effects, with more people now seeking a kambo ceremony in Scotland as a way to release physical and emotional burdens. Extracted from the secretion of the giant monkey tree frog (Phyllomedusa bicolor), Kambo has been used by indigenous peoples of the Amazon basin for centuries to enhance stamina, purge illness and realign body and spirit.

At CAIM in the Perthshire Highlands, a Kambo treatment is honoured with great care and reverence. Each Kambo ceremony at CAIM is facilitated by highly trained practitioners who bring deep experience, sensitivity and care to the process. We create an attuned space where every participant is supported both physically and energetically throughout their healing journey.

Whether you’re called to it for physical healing, emotional release or spiritual clarity, intentional preparation is key to receiving the deepest possible benefit from this powerful kambo healing experience.

Understanding Kambo

Kambo is a secretion from the giant monkey tree frog that is sent to us dried onto a piece of wood. Water is added to ‘reactive’ the dried secretion which turns it into a sticky paste. This is then applied to small superficial burns made on the participants skin - known as gates. The medicine known as points when placed on the gates enters the lymphatic system and activates the body’s innate healing response. It contains powerful bioactive peptides that support immune function, stimulate detoxification and offer energetic clearing.

Traditionally used by those indigenous to the Amazon basin before hunting, for illness healing or as a rite of passage, today kambo’s medicine is embraced globally as a therapeutic experience for those seeking deep renewal.
